Repeated iMessage account disabling due to blocked text messages on iPhone 13
Recently, on 2 separate occasions, iMessaging has been disabled on 2 separate iPhone 13 devices I own(ed). When I attempted to re-enable them from the device, I continuously get an error message that says the attempt was unsuccessful.
The first time it happened, I went through Verizon support and after spending several hours, they gave up and arranged to send me a new replacement phone. While waiting for the phone, I did more research and found a link to reenable my messaging account from a While waiting for the phone, I did more research and found a link to reenable my messaging account from an external device. I submitted the request through that link, and iMessaging was reenabled and began working on the old phone about 24 hours later.
The new phone arrived the next day, so I activated that phone and everything worked fine for a couple of weeks. Then the exact same thing just started happened again yesterday.
After exhausting Support measures a second time with Verizon, I reached out to Apple. Apple informed me that someone had deleted and “blocked” one of my text messages and that Apple automatically disables iMessaging on all iPhone/iMessaging accts associated with that account/phone number.
The Apple support rep directed me to a link where I could request that messaging be renabled. I explained that I had done all of that prior to receiving my new phone, but was told that someone had again deleted and blocked another of my text messages.
I submitted that request again, and I’m told it can take up to 24 hours before it will take affect. I was also told that every time someone deletes and blocks a text message from an iPhone, that it will automatically do that unless or until someone goes through that process each and every time.
But this is the second time it’s happened, and I have no idea who would be doing this intentionally. I only text with people I know and communicate with regularly, or that have texted me and that I am responding to. It has not yet been reenabled on this phone yet, but I have a feeling if or when it does, the same thing is going to happen again.
I have had my iPhone account, and multiple iPhone devices, for several years and never had this problem until the last couple of months. I do receive a ton of unsolicited spam texts that I delete and block. Is it possible they have figured out someway to counter that by generating these blocks that cause this problem?
this does not appear to be a problem with android phones. If it happens again, I think I’m going to have to make the switch. It is a terrible business communication disruption, and seems to take at least a day to get anywhere towards resolving.
Anyone else having this problem or have any clues how to get past? Simply disabling iMessaging on an iPhone is not the answer, as other folks that have iPhones may not receive those messages, or may not be able to respond to them, depending on their RSC settings. This is a total cluster!
