MacBook Air 2020 Sending Text Messages Instead of iMessage and Not Receiving Messages

Hi guys,

for some reason I am not able to send messages nor receive them on my MacBook. this problem started a few days ago and ever since i cant seem to fix it. ive turned on text message forwarding on my phone and my phone is the only thing that seems to work in terms of messaging and receiving messages. does anybody know how to fix this please?
