Below is the problem report:
MacBook Air, macOS 15.6
panic(cpu 2 caller 0xfffffe0016c1d584): DCP PANIC - ASSERT!AppleDCPDPTXPowerController.cpp:564 No device added after powering on the rails.
This indicates it is most likely a hardware issue with the laptop. From multiple posts on this forum, the Logic Board is most likely bad although Apple tends to try replacing the Display Assembly first. It is a 50/50 choice, but from what I've seen posted on this forum and knowing the Logic Boards on the recent Macs (2018+) tend to have a higher rate of failure, I personally lean towards a Logic Board failure.
DCP PANIC == Display Co-Processor PANIC
Unfortunately getting Apple to perform any repair, much less get them to choose the Logic Board first over the Display Assembly may be tough since Apple techs & frontline support agents have no clues how to interpret Kernel Panic reports. It is rare the Apple Diagnostics will show any problems with this type of hardware failure.
The best way to get Apple to address this as a hardware issue is by performing a clean install of macOS (involves erasing the disk followed by reinstalling macOS), or better yet a DFU Firmware Restore. Thoroughly test the laptop with the clean install before installing any third party software and before restoring/migrating from a backup. If you can show Apple the laptop has Kernel Panics under these very strict conditions, then Apple will focus on repairing the hardware, otherwise Apple will focus on software issues and having you do these steps anyway.
Unfortunately a DFU Firmware Restore requires access to another Mac currently running macOS 15.x Sequoia.....or once macOS 26 Tahoe has been released in a few weeks, it will require the host Mac to be running macOS 26 Tahoe.
Before you do anything, make sure to have a good backup now while you still can. If you don't have a good backup, then you will lose all the data on the internal SSD if the hardware failure gets worse or Apple repairs the laptop. Apple provides Time Machine with macOS to make backups simple, but there are also third party options as well.

One shutdown cause is overheating. M-series Macbook Airs have not cooling fans, only "convection cooling," and are not up to heavy-duty operations that create a lot of heat, like video editing, code compilation, and even streaming video,
Can you associate the shutdows with an activity or sepcific app use?
Apple offers some useful tips on preventing laptop overheating in this article:
Keep your Mac laptop within acceptable operating temperatures - Apple Support
In addition I'll add that aftermarket "protection" apps like anti-virus and so-called "cleaning" apps can run up temps.
See if Apple Diagnostics returns any errors:
Use Apple Diagnostics to test your Mac - Apple Support
Note that there is a lik at the h bottom of that article to another Apple doc that "translates" any diagnostic codes for you.
On the M2 Air this usually points to a firmware/driver mismatch rather than a dying panel. First thing I’d do is hold power until “Loading options”, then boot in safe mode and check if it still happens.

Please read Random reboot error: Panic "No device added after powering on the rails" - Apple Community among many similar reports for that specific model Mac.
Thanks for your reply.
In short, since this is used for my day-to-day business operations, should I consider getting a new Mac before trying to resolve the issue with the current one? I only have one device and cannot afford to start erasing things. I cannot see this going away, as it is actually getting worse, but I am willing to try anything, as for the most part it has been a reliable machine.
Regards

Sounds like you need another computer since you will be without this computer for several days (best case, but perhaps longer if parts are backordered or the first part doesn't resolve the issue).
FYI, it is probably a good idea to stagger the purchase of new computers so that you always have a spare backup computer available which can still run the necessary software to do what you need. A backup device is just as important as backing up the data on each of your devices if you cannot be without a device for any length of time.
Further to this, when right-clicking, I cannot select open, show in folder, or show info in folder.
