Do pre-orders get a separate line for in-store pickup at Apple Store?

When I bought my iPhone 15 Pro, there were two lines at the store. There was one for people who had pre-ordered and who had an appointment and one for people who were just hoping to get a phone. I still had to wait in the pre-order line for a little while as they were trying to keep the store from becoming too crowded.

Every Apple Store that I have visited in my area has a greeter....sometimes two.....that will ask you if they can help when you enter the store.

Explain to the greeter why you are visiting the store and they will direct you accordingly.

If the current wait time is long.....you might ask about when a good time to return might be.

At my local Apple Store, on launch day, the greeters (multiple) are outside organizing things. Not a job I would want.

I would recommend asking a store employee who should be stationed at the entrance.
