Anodizing does not come off from a drop. It’s not paint. Anodizing is an electro chemical process.

What happened is you opened the surface of the aluminum frame and you’re seeing the bare, natural aluminum under the anodized surface. Use a simple paint stick to cover the bare aluminum. Hobby shops carry paint sticks in a multitude of colors.

Makes sense, it has been long since i had the aluminum as i became pro user, but this is the reason I am trying to decide between blue or the silver, thanks

Whether a phone is Titanium or Aluminum, I would personally NEVER walk around with a naked iPhone. Put your phone in a good quality protective case and you won't have to worry about cosmetic issues. But if you don't put it in a case and the finish gets scratched or nicked, it won't be covered by warranty, so if that would bother you, put it in a case.

Rightfully concerned. I dropped iPhone 17 Pro in deep blue in a pouch on concrete. It was from waste height and hit my leg before hitting the ground, so it wasn’t much force. Took the anodizing right off the top corner and right on the edge of the screen nonetheless where it is visible every time you look at the screen. Really disappointing given I’ve never had an iPhone get damaged from something so minor. I’ve dropped iPhones in the past from higher up and had no noticeable marks, and one light fall inside a pouch took the anodizing off? Come on Apple.

Maybe instead of concerning yourself about little scratches , rejoice that the phone and particularly the camera system still works after a relatively serious drop,

A pro camera needs a professional case, look out for Spigen.
