You cannot update the iPhone 6 Plus to iOS 15 because it is not compatible with iOS 15.....doesn't have the processing power. The non-technical reason......the 6 Plus is too old.

The last....and final.....update for the 6 Plus was iOS 12.5.7

You will need an iPhone 6s or higher version of the iPhone if you want to run iOS 15. But....there are a lot of apps that require at least iOS 16 to run.

Since you will be looking for a new phone, it would make sense to make sure that it will run iOS 18 or iOS 26.

You cannot update an iPhone 6 Plus to iOS 13, let alone to iOS 15. The iPhone 6 Plus has only 1 GB of RAM; every Phone that can run anything higher than iOS 12 has at least twice that much. Most of the phones that can run iOS 18 and 26 have four to eight times as much, plus a Neural Engine that the iPhone 6 Plus completely lacks.

If you want a phone that is likely to receive updates for years to come, you may want to look at purchasing a 16- or 17-series phone or an iPhone Air. Apple also sells some Certified Refurbished 14- and 15-series phones which will be able to run iOS 26 when Apple releases it tomorrow.

Make sure you check your specific phone model. If you have an iPhone 6 Plus, it will not update to ios 15 since it is not compatible. I would recommend getting a newer model like an iPhone 12 or later to get the latest os. If it’s an iPhone 6S plus, then it can update. Make sure your phone is connected to WiFi, has enough extra storage, and if the update does not show up, try restarting your phone. Hope this helps
