Music app UI issues after macOS Tahoe update

Does anyone else see the music app's UI go crazy weird after updating to macOS Tahoe?

mainly with the header in the full screen where the top bar is just empty

when the queue is opened the header of that portion is stuck at a position even after scrolling through it

the music history is lost.

I don't know it's just weird and troublesome, not liking it at all, apple please do something

or just hire me, I might have a few great ideas for the music app. I can share my resume if needed XD

Finally deduced that during the update to OS26 the music library file had become corrupted!! So binned the corrupted file and initiated a new music library file. After uploading from my hard drive 11,500 albums onto a new library file all seems well. However there are a few caveats in the new music app compared to the old one. 1) you cannot play music immediately, the app will crash. 2) You have to wait a while for all of the 'data' to load into the new music app before you can play any music without it crashing especially for a local library of this size (I haven't timed it but I leave it around half an hour from opening to be safe. However previously I could play music straight away, so this is a pain). 3) If syncing this to your iPhone, you need to be patient. when you click on the iPhone in the side bar of finder, it will appear blank for dome time. You need to leave it until all of the information is there, as in the sync button. Syncing new music will take as long as it takes dependent on the size of your local library.

Please be mindful that this only applies to a local library stored on an external drive. I do not use cloud based music, so no idea how that is behaving for other users.

Not unfounded conspiracy theory: it's an ongoing, willful degradation of the music library experience (iTunes Match destroying files, cap on cloud files, nav defaulting to Apple Music, opt-out Apple Music preferences) so that Apple can get out of the MP3/AAC business once and for all and put the full (consumer) focus on streaming.

That Terminal command didn't do a thing. I wish it did — the bugs in this app are driving me nuts. It chokes on certain playlists; it can't find some recently added albums so I have to click on each missing song and search for it. Sometimes the music just stops playing for no apparent reason; etc. And like everyone else I don't like the new layout. I'm a radio producer and I use this app all the time to preview new music. Frankly, I think it needs to be rewritten from the ground up instead of kluging new stuff onto an ancient design.

There are so many reason I don't like Tahoe's UI. It seems as if they tried to make everything consistent between iPhones and laptops etc with the priority given to iPhone UI. But they have made a mess. Take a look at the attached screen shot from maps. The cut off of end route, the over lapping of the up arrow, the large blank section. I have so many issues with this now. Another item driving me crazy is why they move the music controls to the bottom of the music app when every other UI has controls on the top. Now the UI between Podcast and music are different. The Podcast ap at least lets you select a play in a tool bar on top and associate with the selected podcast. Music just an inconsistent mess of button locations and different functions. Apple sometimes change is not better and you need to test your products more. Why is this released so poorly?

I tried you Shift key but for my problem it didn't work on my M1. I have 3900 songs and I want to move 10 of them up from there present position which is 3890 to 3900 into different places in the top 1000. I use to be able to highlight them, holding the cursor and drag them up to where I want them, but not any more and they are not on a external SSD but on the Mac

Agree with the new app being a disaster. Curious if anyone else has experienced the following 2 issues:

  1. In the search view, when looking at Albums, if you click the "Albums >" text to open a full page grid of the albums that match your query, the albums are no longer selectable. As in, you see a full grid of albums, but you can't click into any of the albums. Single clicking, double clicking, triple clicking, right clicking... nothing has any effect, just a static grid of album art. What is the possible use for such a view? (The albums are still selectable in the main search page - where it shows each section for Artists / Albums / Songs - just not when you click into the Albums> view).
  2. When _controlling_ a HomePod (select AirPlay icon > Switch to: > Select HomePod - Specifically _not_ when "AirPlay"-ing), I cannot select a song from an Album to play. No matter which song I select in an Album, the HomePod always starts playing the first song in the album. If I select the 3rd track, the first plays. If I select the last track, the first plays. The rest of the tracks in the album do show up in the queue, but they always show up in order. i.e. If I had shuffle on, shuffle turns itself off. The only way to play a specific song is to click one at random, let the first track start playing, then skip ahead to the track I want.

Both of these issues happen every time, without fail, and throughout restarts across 2 different devices. Absolutely baffling that this app passed QA. Also seems like I should share my resume with this team XD.
