How to change the Liquid Glass style from the Lock Screen Notifications (and Control Centre) to the old style ???

I HATE the iOS26 liquid glass look for the notifications on the lock screen and Control Centre.

How do I get it back to how it was in the previous iOS?

I looked at the Display options etc all over the place- I can't seem to find anything that would revert back to the way it was. I have a hard time distinguishing such one-tone looks, I need the distinct colours and black borders to know what I'm looking at.

As soon as my Reminder notification came up on the lock screen, I had no idea what it was nor could read much of it. The white line borders with the "shimmery" pseudo-transparent background is so jarring and my eyes lose the writing into a blur.

Thanks for your help.

Appreciate the reply. I had previously read your "love it or hate it" post. It was definitely helpful.

Regarding the old backup, if I remember correctly, I believe I did this a long time ago with an older iPhone, so in theory it should work. The backups I have are not just on my laptop. They have been individually saved in another location, so they haven't been written over. I'd restore / overwrite my phone from the backup that used the previous iOS. To do so, I'd need to remove my current backup from my hidden Library folder (>>Application Support>>MobileSync>>Backup) and replace with the old one.

You may very well be correct about this and I'm remembering an old situation incorrectly. But if I go ahead and try it, I'll definitely report back if it's a success or failure. The issue I'm having with the new motion has not been solved by any of the controls currently available.

Go right ahead. Samsung has beautiful screens, but a poor track record with exploding batteries. Also, they have a ton of bloatware. They let the carriers put all sorts of stuff on. Motorola used to have some of the most outstanding battery life, as well as less bloatware. LG also makes a good product. If you're going with an Android phone, don't buy a really cheap one. They tend to be underpowered and never get updates.

I don’t like it at all. I have held off on changing phones because i have a lot invested in apple store/ apps/ music etc but this may be the last straw. Might be time to move to another brand

That's fine. As users only on a user to user only forum, we don't care if you buy something else. Enjoy whatever you choose. It's your money, after all.

Of course, instead of making threats you think might get someone at Apple's attention (it certainly won't here), you could read through this and try all the setting options, which you may find better meet your needs (or not) --> Liquid Glass - Love It Or Hate It - It's … - Apple Community

I’ve decided to hold off on the iOS 18 update for my iPhone after a frustrating experience with the latest iPadOS. To me, the new iPad UI feels like it's trying to mimic macOS without the actual functionality, which has made it feel less like a dedicated tablet. I’m also seeing a lot of aggressive prompts to update for 'Apple Intelligence' (the new marketing push), and I'm concerned that we’re losing the choice to stick with stable, older versions.

Prompts to update to the new version are not new and have followed every major iOS update, when users don't want to move to the new iOS initially. This isn't new and Apple isn't marketing anything to you, nor are you losing choice. But that choice to remain on the previous years iOS version comes with risk. You won't get security updates, designed to keep you and your data safe as they are rolled out.

The tricky thing about the iPad update is it’s different on different machine models. Really irritating. I just got a new A16 and it has a caps lock key (why? I don’t know). My older 9th gen iPad has kept the old keyboard style. Goodbye muscle memory

Not relevant to the subject, and this is the iphone forum. Ask your question as a new question in the ipad forum.

The transparency also makes it difficult at times to focus on the actual content of the notification as it blends in with the background.

Something 'cool' does not always translate into a better customer experience. This is a prime example of how something 'cool' can make it worse.

If a customer cannot easily make out the notifications, what point is there to have a device where one of the primary functions is for notifications?

Apple has prided itself on providing superior customer experience with a superior interface. This is an example of how the company has lost its focus on the customer.
