I couldn't care less about the discussion in this thread regarding battery life :)
Until the battery dies prematurely.
The purpose of a computational device is productivity. These notifications are incessant and completely annoying, popping up every 1% when below 10% or even more frequently, thoroughly interfering with my productivity.
What will your productivity be when the battery fails prematurely because you routinely let it go below 10%, or the computer abruptly shuts down, losing what you were working on?
And you don’t care about battery life, until the battery dies and you will have to send it to Apple to get the battery replaced, which takes about 2 weeks. How will that affect your productivity? (Batteries are not field replaceable).
The only reasonable answer is to charge the computer when the battery preferably goes below 20%, but certainly when it goes below 10%. Running the battery down all the way before charging goes back to NiCd days; Lithium batteries hate to be deep discharged, and letting it go to zero and not charging within a short time will completely kill the battery for good.
