How to change default position of Preview window on Mac?

When I open a file using the Preview app, the window always positions itself at the upper left corner. I'd like to be able to change the default position to somewhere in the middle of the screen. Is there a way to do this?

I'm using a 2024 M3 13" MacBook Air running Sequoia 15.6.1 (24G90).

There is no user setting in Preview to center an open Preview window on your screen. It does not store the current centered window position and open at that location the next time Preview is run.

The 2021 script that I wrote and neuroanatomist linked to expects an existing open Preview window before running the script and centering the Preview window.

That AppleScript still works on my macOS 26 Tahoe and centers a Preview window on my 32-inch LG 4K display. Though I haven't tested it on Sequoia v15.7, I have no reason to doubt it will work there, or on 15.6.1 too.
