This has been annoying me for ages and I finally worked out how to get rid of it. The problem is that you'll not find the folder if you look in the library in your user profile or "Home" folder.

To get to the correct library:

  • Open Office Auto Updater (or next time it pops up with a prompt to update)
  • Right click on the icon next to Microsoft Error Reporting 2.2 and select "show in finder"
  • This will take you to the folder: /Library/Application Support/Microsoft/MERP2.0
  • Delete that folder.

Alternatively :

  • Open Finder
  • Click on "Macintosh HD Data" on the side bar. Or use the "Go" menu, select "Computer" and the HD should be listed
  • Then go to /Library/Application Support/Microsoft
  • Delete folder MERP2.0
