How to revert Sequoia 15.7 Bookmarks format to a simple list?

I had no issue highlighting the words but glad you got your issue resolved.

if you use Apple Menu > Safari > Bookmarks, that is not that big a deal.

but wait until you open the bookmarks sidebar, only to discover that with safari 26 on Sonoma, we can no longer drag and drop those bookmarks into a different order. not sure if there is a way to do that on Tahoe.

The ellipsis is not available for Sequoia. Only in Tahoe, and apparently we have been stuck with this bookmark view. What a cluster thing....

If you mean the small bookmark description under each bookmark then you can highlight the description then right click (ctrl click) and select delete.

From Safari menu File> you can export bookmarks as a list(?)

in Tahoe anyway ( I can't go back to Sequoia)

I'm not sure the OP means this, but for me my bookmarks in the sidebar now appear like this:

and then if I choose "favourites" for example from that list, I get this:

whereas before it was a list without all the extra stuff. kind of like if you use Apple Menu > Safari > Bookmarks

I believe 15.7 with Safari has a bug. Safari 26 with Tahoe included a small menu labeled “…” that can be used to display your expanded bookmarks and stay after closing Safari. 15.7 which also uses Safari 26 omitted that “…” menu so no way to adjust. I believe that was an error. On one of my Macs I erased the drive and reinstalled 15.7 from recovery which will maintain the previous Safari but with 15.7 so bookmarks not touched.
