Dock disappears randomly on macOS Tahoe 26.0

I've had this happen only once, so I'm not sure I'm in the same boat as others here, but as growler62000 reported, I believe I also had been configuring hot corners not long before my dock disappeared.

I lose the activedock2 and also freeze the entire MACBookPro many times a session. I've got a M4 Max 48G 16cpu 20gpu so no shortage of resources. activity monitor across the board is not showing anything above +/- 10 - 20% utilization. Dock I can restart. Finder blows the whole current desktop. Mo

My trading platform I split into multiple instances which for some reason itself freezing up. Simply trying to move a block of icons (10) also will freeze finder.

#1 issue = Finder freezing

#2 activedock2 = crashing

Although this may work in practice (I haven't tested it yet and thank you for the tip btw), this cannot be the official solution. We expect (deserve?) better than that.

Not only does my dock randomly disappear, but my screen saver randomly switches between Automatic and custom. I would set the screen saver to custom, using the message option, and it would work for a couple of days, but then switch back to automatic. Same for the opposite condition: I would set the screen saver to automatic, and a couple of days later it would switch to custom.

After updating to Tahoe 26, the Dock disappears although I have disabled the "automatically hide". I see that you disabled your screensaver, however, I don't want to disable the screensaver. Is there another workaround until Apple fixes the problem?

Specifically, what is the Command Option D actually do besides "fix" the disappearance of the dock? does this option permanently change the disappearance or is it required each time? What is the purpose of Command Option D?

Installed Tahoe within an hour of release, have not seen this issue on my 16" M4 Pro MBP (have used the internal display alone or with an extended 5K:2K display, but mostly used in clamshell mode).

Same issue on my Mac Pro 2019

EDIT: I successfully loaded the dock with terminal command "killall Dock". That's may be the same as toggling the show/hide dock option in System Settings. In any case, it worked.

I have the same issue. The fixes quoted work for me but are only temporary cures.

I have exactly the same problem on my Mac mini with the M4 processor, and it's really annoying. 🙈🫣

Definitely the best way right now to quickly restore and get the dock back when the bug kicks in. Thanks for the short command!

MacOS 26.0.1 does not fix this issue.

Looks like we might have light at the end tunnel, just got notification for Tahoe update, scheduled for tonight, lets see if the dock problem is still there after updating.
