Screenshot not saving images in Tahoe

Neither the app nor the control-shift F4 or F5 variants are saving images to my M4 iMac. This is something new as the app has worked flawlessly in the past.

I set the option to save images to the desktop in the app, but nothing shows up. A search with Find Any File also didn’t turn up anything.

Assistance is welcome.

Make changes to your Options in Shift Command 5 in other words try something different to compare your results(?)

some third-party sync software like: OneDrive, GoogleDrive, BackBlaze or DropBox have settings that can usurp screenshots— if you use any of those, it is a possibility...

if you are using iCloud Drive/ or it got turned on —> Desktop & Documents <— I would look there

AS you can see from my post I’ve tried that. Nothing happens.

You stated, control-shift F4 or F5. The Control and the Command keys are not the same. F4 and F5 are not the same keys as 4 and 5, the number keys not the function keys.

Command-Shift-3, -4 and -5 control screenshots (and -6 if your Mac has a Touch Bar).

Control-Shift-F4 and -F5 do nothing and should do nothing unless you've mapped specific functions to those key combinations.

Press Command-Shift-5, click the Options in the floating toolbar, set the Save to location as Desktop, then press the Return key. What happens?

After updating to Tahoe, my screenshots, keyboard OR the app, weren't saving either. The app wouldn't even let me use the various capture options. I went to the Options menu in the app, and clicked several combinations a few times, like capture after 5 seconds, save to desktop, and for some reason that worked! I did turn off the floating thumbnail, and left that off. Traditional keyboard shortcuts and the app both are working now. No delay, and saving to the desktop. Real hi-tech on my part, sorry I can't give you exactly the combination, order, or voodoo ritual that worked.
