iPad OS 26 and Mac Tahoe 26 Universal Control broken

I have the same problem. Logging out and in to iCloud acc on both devices didn't work for me. I found a support thread for Sequoia that worked for me under Tahoe. it seems to work every time for me...at least until Apple fixes the issue in the next update. I have an M1 Max MacBook Pro and M4 iPad Pro which was giving me the problem.

The fix was:

• open terminal paste sudo rm -rf ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.universalcontrol.plist

sudo rm -rf ~/Library/Preferences/ByHost/com.apple.universalcontrol.*

• Will be prompted for password
• reboot

It had something to do with corruption of a universal control cache file. Hope this helps.

nuking the ~/Library/Preferences/... that @Cathlabrob suggested fixed the issue for me, thank you!

İ have the same problem. Universal control is broken. after updating mac mini m1 to tahoe and ipad 5th gen to latest version.
