Bugs in macOS 26 Tahoe: Facetime + Touch Bar not showing call controls + Launchpad removed

Hello everyone,

I’m currently using a MacBook Pro 16" (Intel i9 with Touch Bar) running macOS 26 Tahoe and have noticed a couple of issues:

  1. Facetime & Phone App Call Controls – While on FaceTime Audio or the newly introduced Phone app calls, the Touch Bar does not display the expected call features (mute, video on/off, leave/end call, etc.). This makes call handling inconvenient. Is anyone else facing this bug? Any known workaround or solution?
  2. FaceTime Vulnerability – I’ve also noticed certain vulnerabilities during FaceTime calls. At times, the call UI freezes or the buttons are unresponsive, and occasionally audio/video gets stuck without proper recovery unless the app is force-quit. This raises concerns about reliability, especially when FaceTime is used for important calls. Has anyone else experienced similar issues or found fixes?
  3. Launchpad Missing – It seems the classic Launchpad interface from earlier macOS versions has been removed in macOS 26. Does anyone know if there’s a way to restore or bring back the old Launchpad?

I’d also like to request Apple to look into these vulnerabilities/bugs and provide a fix in future updates.

Has anyone found a solution or alternative for these issues?

To be proactive you can file a bug report / submit your Apple Feedback here: Product Feedback - Apple

There is no restore the old LaunchPad, the replacement is the Apps.app

you can however take a look at:

“AppGrid Launch” in the >App Store -replacement for the old LaunchPad.app

For the first point, have you tried adjusting options in System Settings > Keyboard > Touch Bar?

Launchpad is not available in macOS 26 Tahoe. Instead, Apple has replaced it with a Spotlight-based application library similar to that on iOS. To have Apple consider your feedback on this issue, submit it here:

Feedback - macOS - Apple

A possible workaround might be the AppGrid Launcher app (Mac App Store link).

Perhaps pedantic, but a change in features that you don't like does not constitute a bug.
