With The most recent update it has turned notifications with a black background and white lettering. This is very difficult to read, and I see no way to reverse it back to black lettering with a lighter background. I see there have been a number of complaints from other people Asking the same question. White lettering is too hard to read. I’m surprised that Apple implemented this systemwide without a way to change it. Please advise how to revert back to black lettering. Thank you.

I feel the same. The glass version suits young people with good eyesight, but definitely not the older population who have to strain to see or read anything without glasses.
Please don't presume to speak for anyone other than yourself. I've been wearing reading glasses for better than twenty years. I'm eligible to collect Social Security. I like the new user interface and have no difficulty using it.

We're both in our 70s here and we both wear glasses and we both love the new Liquid Glass effects. I find it sad when someone uses age as a limiting factor.

Of course. I have a dear friend who has vision issues and chronic vertigo. She was struggling with Liquid Glass, so I made all the changes I detailed in my user top for her and she's as happy as she can be. If people would stop whining and use the tools available to them, they'd likely find out Liquid Glass can be customized to suit most people out there.
Yikes! Chronic vertigo sounds like a nightmare. You have done a great service with your usertip.

I also was suffering from chronic vertigo. I had to see specialist after specialist and no one could figure out what was going on. I finally went to the Balance Institute of America and they tested my Vitamin D level and it turns out I had a vitamin D deficiency. I have to take 6000 IU of vitamin D3 every day, just to make my level normal. But it stopped my vertigo issues. Turns out if you're vitamin D deficient, your body is unable to absorb the crystals that go for a walk in your inner ear, because they are actually calcium. Your body needs a certain level of D in order to absorb calcium, so increasing my D levels solved it for me. I went through 2 years of chronic vertigo issues, which was horrible, to say the least.

Ps: I'm glad you think the user tip is good. Katana-San asked me to take a stab at it, so I did.

I’m older and truly sad and reprehensible that by upgrading to iOS 26 notification are whit print only, and can’t be reverted back to black print. For those of us with poorer vision it is a true inconvenience and strains our vision. Another case where a poorly programmed AI makes an erroneous decision truly sad !

I can’t imagine how age is relevant. I’m sure you are not as old as I am, or several of the more senior people volunteering.

Aw man is that it? Dang, I turned on rescue transparency cause I hated the “Liquid Glass” effect. (Also cause it slowed down my iPhone 13 and ate battery.

So the white text on black background on lock screen notifications is a side effect from turning off the liquid glass? Is there any other way to remedy it?

white text on black backgrounds messes with my eyes.
