I have the same problem - and no solution. Were you able to come by any solution? Mine is sporadic, and if a do a re-start the problem goes away. But it is truly annoying when I have to restart when in the middle of documents or downloads. I might just take it in to the store and see what they can do?

Anyone else have this issue?

If you have a model with a removable battery, pull the battery and try running without it. I had a problem with my battery swelling and it created all weird trackpad issues. I replaced the battery and it cleared them all up. User uploaded file

Also having a problem with trackpad on a MacBook Pro less than two weeks old. I can fix it just by hitting escape and the problem will stop for anywhere from 10 seconds to a few days, but it always comes back. Makes me think the problem is software-realted but I'm not sure. Sounds like this is a major widespread problem. Would love to hear some from Apple.

Same problem here. I can't actually take my puter to an apple shop for service as I am currently in a country where I don't speak the language. And of course my warranty will run out before I return home. I thought about paying a ridiculously large sum of money to be covered by Apple care...but surely this has to be a software problem, seeing rebooting he computer fixes it!

Has anyone taken the mac in to get it looked at under warranty? It would be interesting to know what they said about the problem?

If it is software, it is disappointing that a new update has not been released as a matter of urgency as the problem makes my computer basically unusable!

When I first had this problem I thought I had just done something to my computer, but obviously there's a larger issue. It is very disappointing to have this problem as my mac is so new. It plagues my computer many times each day, so it's very difficult to use it efficiently.

I think I will try going in to an Apple store in the next few days and have someone check out my mac. It's still under warranty, so if I get any answers I'll be sure to put up another post.

Ok from what I read in your initial description I feel as if your left click is stuck rather than the right one ..regardless I understand what a drag that can be . I would go ahead and disable tap to click in trackpad preferences and if that doesn't work I would try using a mouse to see how it feels. if no problems with the mouse then it might very well indicate a hardware anomaly and would qualify for a trip to the apple store .
