You may want to send feedback to reach those who work on the software behind-the-scenes at Apple. You could include a link to this discussion if you want.

They will likely not reply, yet your feedback will be carefully read and logged, and if others have a similar issue, it may be addressed in a future update.

Seems iOS26 was a major upgrade, and much updating, re-indexing and the like was going on in the background for quite sometime after the upgrade was installed. Keeping iPhone well charged, and letting the process complete seemed to be the best way to manage things initially.

something weird like this happened to me. It happened when I was trying to change parental control settings shortly after upgrading. I went to update one of my kids content preferences and I noticed that all the options were turned off which i found odd. I turned them on and changed some app age settings. After about 30 minutes my pheon icons were mostly removed. I went back in to the controls and funny thing is when I saved it, it didn't take because when I went back in, those options were the same as they were before I originally came in to change them. I am wondering if there was some glitch that applied to me by accident. Anyway, I did a phone restore. When I went back into the parental settings, I noticed all the options turned off again so this time I backed out and went back in and the options were set. Super strange...

it happened to time. I guess we have to wait the next update.
