Disabling double-tap to windowed mode in full screen apps on iPad

Every time I mis-tap a feature in any app it registers as the double-tap and shrinks the window. Is there a way to make this stop without disabling windowed apps or stage manager? Update: The double-tap is only on the top part of the screen where many drawing apps have buttons.
