iPhone slow and laggy after iOS 26 update

The new update is making my phone slow, laggy, and looking like a Samsung. The whole reason why I got an iPhone was because I didn’t like how laggy my Samsung was and now my iPhone is turning into one. I’m not impressed. Has anyone else got this problem?

My iphone 11 has gone lagging after I updated to ios 26.0.1 a few days ago and to make matters worse, my keyboard and the letters I intended to type is going against my command of the i and the far left side of the touchscreen is completely unresponsive when I try to swipe it and the top right side of it on the vertical side and when horizontal on the left, the bottom side of the position isn't responding when I try to swipe it. Every time I try to force restart it, it still won't fix the problems.

It takes more than a couple of days to finish the indexing involved after the update and also noted by Apple in their support document posted here many times. Most will see the resolution to the lag, battery drain, and heat produced by finishing the set up process after 3-5 days, but a would recommend a week.

For the screen issues, that is going to require diagnostics and that can be done by Apple over the phone or you may find it beneficial to take the device to the Apple Store in case they recommend a Factory Reset using a computer that they can do there. If there is any cracks in your screen then that is definitely due to the failure of the Screen Digitizer, although that can certainly fail without a crack in the screen.

And for a comparison to Samsung, you should feel pretty lucky. Apple has included support for the latest OS on your 6 year old phone, while Android 16 was released in June and Samsung has only announced support for there flagship S series going back to the Galaxy S22 released only 3 years ago and that is not set to happen until November.

And typical of Android, they are following suit with Apple where their new UI in this OS is called "Material 3 Expressive" which features increased use of animation, colors and blur. It is always best to know the facts before you make off-the-cuff remarks.

That is exactly what you should be experiencing along with Battery drain and a phone that feels warmer than usual. Give it 3-4 days to finish indexing files and optimizing your photo library for object detection algorithms. If you have a large photo library, give it another day or two. Charge your phone all night, every night. Apple has even included a support article on what you should expect after an update, and that has been true for previous updates as well.

Once it has been close to a week, then perform a Force Restart (I actually do it after every update):

  • Press and quickly release volume up
  • Press and quickly release volume down
  • Press and HOLD the side button until the Apple logo appears. This could take up to 15 seconds while holding the side button until you see the Apple logo. Ignore anything else you see on the screen during the time and if you do not see the Apple logo, then try again as it may take a couple of attempts to get the speed and sequence of the key presses correct.

ISO update 26.0 is awful! Now my phone legs between text messages. Last night I had over 30 deleted text messages/ threads from 2023 & 2024 show up again missing some names and were random. These were obviously permanently deleted well over 30 days ago so how the **** are they showing up again? It takes forever to go from one app to another. Please fix or tell me how the **** I can uninstall this update ASAP!!!! Thanks
