Maps freezing on iPhone 13 Pro with iOS 26 after losing cellular signal

Ok, so I have an update. I stopped using Apple Maps, and started using Google Maps. Everything seems to be working as expected. Google Maps still tracks me even without a cellular signal and does not freeze. So clearly there is an issue with Apple Maps itself. Hopefully this will be resolved in a release from Apple. I also deleted and reinstalled maps, in the hope that maybe that reset or fixed and lingering issues or pointers, and rebooted my iPhone. But unfortunately they did not resolve it. 🤞 I hope Apple fixes this issue.

In addition to the above, my iPhone CarPlay was perfectly fine before the upgrade and I have a wireless charger in the car as well. So the phone is always fully charged.

there is definitely an issue that was introduced by ios26 with maps !

Replaced by a qualified technician using a genuine Apple battery. At least that is what I paid for.

so here is the use case.

i had ios18.6 installed, and then after going to check for updates, it gave me the choice of ios26. Prior to this point everything was working just fine, no issues anywhere. I installed ios26 and then this started to happen.

If this is a battery issue, which shows 100% and indeed does last me all day now vs only a few hours in the past, then this never appeared in ios18.6

i also noticed that people have having issues with maps locking up on the Apple Watches when their iPhones are locked. Could this be the same issue ?

I doubt that is an issue based on the fact that I had my battery replaced a month ago.
