iPad OS update on iTunes (PC)

Hello, due to storage issues I'm trying to update my iPad 7th gen via iTunes. Once I connect the iPad & click "check for update" on itunes it says the software is up to date (17.7.2). But on the iPad it shows 18.7 available (unable to install via the iPad due to storage requirements).

iTunes is upto date (last updated today to ensure it wasn't the issue), and updating my iPhone using iTunes has worked with no issues.

Thanks

iPad (7th generation)

For Apple Devices for Windows, "You may need to first select Check for Update to see if an update is available." I see that iTunes for Windows also has a "Check for Update" button – so maybe you need to press it.

That was the case when I connected my iPhone (running iOS 17.7) to my Mac. The Finder thought the iPhone was "up to date" until I pressed the Finder's version of that button. Then it realized that there was an iOS 26.0 update available.
