I've had this strange audio problem since installing Tahoe on my Mac Pro.
I first noticed it when streaming video. Every hour or so, the audio gradually starts to deteriorate to the point that dialogue sounds like the actors are underwater and you can't understand a thing. After a minute or two of this, it starts to improve and clears up, returning to normal.
Mac Pro (2019)
Okay, the following seems to have worked.
Using Terminal, input
"sudo killall coreaudiod"
and execute.

The current stable release of Tahoe including bug fixes, security updates is macOS 26.0.1

Try launching the PhotoBooth.app and leave it... Command H will hide it, and compare your results with your streaming video.
