Recently started having this annoying issue with my airpods Max pro. itll c

It connect to my phone in that I see it in my Bluetooth connectivity. However it doesn’t play any sound or recognizes that I have worn it over my head. It also refuses to charge.

Check whether your AirPods Max may need cleaning. "Regular cleaning can help maintain your AirPods Max".

Could there be a speck of wax or dirt in the wrong place:

Try switching modes:

"Transparency mode lets outside sound in, so you can hear what's going on around you"

Active Noise Cancellation and Transparency modes for AirPods - Apple Support

Eg: says:

"Switch between listening modes on your AirPods Max : (Note: You can also try turning off listening modes.)

When you're wearing your AirPods Max, press the noise control button to switch between Active Noise Cancellation and Transparency modes. You can customize which modes to switch between (Active Noise Cancellation, Transparency mode, and Off) in the Bluetooth settings on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac"

Make sure AirPods Max are well-charged.

Check you have the R (right) and L (left) ear cups fitting correctly on the right ears.


Check whether automatic head detection is turned on or off

Change settings for AirPods Max - Apple Support

EG says:

"Your AirPods Max automatically stop playing audio when you take them off,

and resume playback when you put them back on. You can change this setting.

  1. Wear your AirPods, and make sure they’re connected to your device.
  2. Do one of the following:

then turn Automatic Head Detection on or off"

Check the lightning cable isn't damaged, and that the power-point you plug it into is working properly

Carefully inspect the connectors on each end of the cable too.
