Simultaneous Bluetooth Connections - Airpods Pro 3

Been using the Sony WF-1000XM5 earbuds for two years. These work very nicely connected simultaneously to my laptop and iPhone 16 Pro.

Excited to get the new APP3 which arrived yesterday. The sound quality and ANC is just as good as Apple has been saying. The ANC is orders of magnitude better than the Sony.

BUT, I'm now discovering that the APP3 will not simultaneously connect to more than one BT device. This is incredibly disappointing and might be enough to make me return the APP3.

With Apple always being on the bleeding edge why would they not provide this functionality?

No.

I'm aware the Airpods are connected to both my iPhone and Windows laptop, but if I'm listening to music on my laptop and my phone rings or receives a text the Airpods receive neither the ring nor the text tone.

With my Sony earbuds, I could be listening to music from my laptop and receive a call on the phone and just tap them to answer. Not so with Airpods.

I've since learned that it's a shallow stance by Apple to be a competitive thing. The Airpods nicely switch automatically as long as you're using all Apple stuff. Switch your AirPods to another device - Apple Support

By “simultaneously” do you mean hearing audio from 2 devices at the same time? AirPods can be connected to multiple Apple devices simultaneously (iPhone, iPad, Mac, etc), a feature I use daily, but can only receive audio from one at a time. I don’t know about non-Apple devices, as I don’t own any.
