iPad turns "off" by itself every 2 minutes

I just started using my Apple iPad 32GB WiFi yesterday. Whether I am connected to the Net or not-connected, whether I am doing-stuff on it or not-doing - it just turns itself off every 2 minutes. I have to restart it by pressing on the 'Home' button. The iPad is fully charged (84% - the battery percentage indicator says). Is this a hardware defect? Do I have to return it to Apple? It has the standard OS it comes with, I have not updated any OS. Also I synched it with iTunes (9, I think). Please help.

Hi

Go to settings Display & brightness auto lock alter time.

Also reboot iPad press & hold power button & menu button hold down down until

You see apple logo this can take 30 seconds.

It is not shutting off, if all you need to press is the "home" button to get the screen back

Your settings/general/auto-lock are probably set to 2min... just change it to what-ever you want, but if you're on battery power, the longer the screen stays lit, it'll drain power faster

Thanks for replying.
But, my iPad is shutting-off/turning-off - when I press the 'HOME' button, it restarts the iPad - I get the Mac (Apple) logo on the black screen and then it opens to the home screen and not in the application that I was working on. Also my auto-lock settings are for 15 min.

same to me.
Just opened the new iPad and while installing it started turn off and on by itself.
I tried restoring from itunes and resetting from the ipad.
Nothing.
The next day I called support and they told me to reset.
Did it again.
It seemed to fix it and for 24 hours it did not turn off.
This morning it started again: on and off every 2 minutes, 5 times in the row.
I am resetting again right now.
You are not alone 🙂

well..right after full restore, turned off again.

I have same problem, anybody discovery as we solve this?

I have the same problem, tryed everyway to slove, reset it two times, turned off tiwce then lastly i turned off thinking of bring it to the store for support. But then a few hour later, my son did not know the problem turned it back on to play his game. And it did not turn off it self untill now( been 15 hours already). i got lucky! why dont you try it. Good luck!

I have the same problem, but with ipad3 16GB, in the first time it happened with safari shutting down, now it shut down after 2 minuts also if i don't play apps..Does anybody fix it?
