iPhone 16 Not Loading Text Messages

On certain people in my text messages, the old texts fail to load, I get the dreaded spinning wheel. Under the wheel it says 'Text Message SMS'.

I've re-started and uploaded the latest update iOS 18.7, messages say 'keep forever' in settings. It is only on a few of the people in my text messages, not all of them.

Why? the annoying spinning wheel won't go away.

Messages app crashing after iOS 26 update Soon after I updated to ios 26, I was not able to access my recently deleted or spam messages. Everytime I went to press them, it would crash the app. Spent an hour talking to two different Apple representatives. What is SMS All of a sudden, my iPhone text messaging has become weird. When I try to text certain people, the message won’t go through and the blank area for the next message says “Text Message-SMS.” Other people whom I text receive my messages just fine and the blank area for the next text says “iMessage.” How did some of my messages become SMS? I want all of my messages to be iMessages.
