iPhone 16 Pro Max Battery Draining Fast

I am on ios26 and I know apple said that the battery will drain fast for a little after update but it has been a week since I updated and my battery drains so much faster than it used to. The phone also feels hot when I do anything on the phone. i can just scroll on tiktok or twitter and it gets hot. Anyone else have this issue and have a fix? Phone used to last all day easily now I have to charge it sometimes twice a day just to prevent it from dying.

Ok, I am seeing about a 50% drop in 7 hours, which looks consistent like it would be a background process instead of a specific app. If you had not said you updated a week ago, I would suspect it was from the file indexing in the update, but that should have passed by now.

I would suggest to try a Force Restart and is something I do after every Software Update to do some basic housekeeping:

  • Press and quickly release volume up
  • Press and quickly release volume down
  • Press and HOLD side button until the Apple logo appears. This could take up to 15 seconds and you want to ignore anything on the screen until you see the Apple logo. If that does not show up try again, as it may take a couple of attempts to get the speed and sequence of the key presses correct.

Other than that, I all can say, without getting into trouble, is wait for the next point update.

Post a screenshot of Settings > Battery, that includes the green battery graph with the last 24 hour option and the top apps that are consuming the battery.

The next point update is currently being tested and since it is in beta, we cannot comment on any issues that have been addressed. If you have Automatic Updates turned on, you will be notified when it is available. No specific date has been set, which is not unusual.

  • When did you update to iOS 26?
  • Did you update to iOS 26.0.1?
  • Did you perform the Force Restart recommended in the previous post?
  • Post the green Battery Graph at Settings > Battery, with the last 24 hour option including the apps consuming the battery.
  • Are you using a Charge Limit? Don't know if the 20% you see at the end of the day means that you used 60% of your battery all day with a 80% Charge Limit.
  • We can't comment on the latest beta version of iOS 26.1 that has been tested since 9/22 and the issues it has resolved related to battery usage. That violate the Terms of Use here and also the usage agreement for being a beta tester, so waiting for that to be released may be necessary.

Same issue here.

iPhone 16 pro max on the latest iOS and the battery is draining much faster. I did a little browse, about an hour and it’s 87% since I took it off charge 2hrs ago.

iOS 26 I have seen my battery at the end of the day easily be 20% but the battery health is 100% still.

My wife has the 17 air and hers is fine. I have a feeling that the latest updates from apple has impacted battery on previous devices forcing to upgrade which is not on but thankfully that’s easy to test and prove and seen videos already reporting this.
