Battery draining rapidly on new iPhone 16

I just bought a 16 and hardly used my phone for the last 2 days. I took 6 pictures at work and sent them to my email. That’s it! I picked it up off my desk to go home and it’s was at 56%. Txting my sister about the problem it had dropped to 34%. My 10XR was 100x better. Infact I never had a problem with the battery life on my old phone. So disappointing. Has anyone ever taken their new phones back and got another one or is there a reason why the battery life is terrible??

  • You have 14 days to return a phone purchased at Apple for any reason.
  • If you recently updated to iOS 26, that would be expected along with lag and the device running warmer than usual. If that is the case, give it 3-5 days and make sure you leave it plugged in all night, every night.
  • If you purchased a refurbished phone from a third party, it may no longer have an authentic battery.

You can post a screenshot of what is showing at Settings > Battery, and include the green battery graph with the previous 24 hour option selected and the top apps consuming the battery.
