Finder Sidebar icons for SSDs shows wrong icon
I am running Tahoe for my MacOS. In the Finder Sidebar, the icons for my external SSDs are appearing as Hookmark icons rather than a SSD icon. How do I fix this?

Hookmark is an app that is installed on my computer. The only way to get rid of the Hookmark icons is to go to System Settings > Extensions > Hookmark, and then click the "i" button (information). Then turn off "File Provider" and then relaunch the Finder. As you can see from the screenshot below, turning off the File Provider disables the ability to "see local files and remote storage files in one view in Finder." It's not the end of the world by disabling that, but it would be nice if I didn't have to disable the Finder Provider feature in Hookmark.
I realize I can also hide the icons of the SSDs in the sidebar, but again, that's not really fixing the root problem.
You asked if this affects performance in any way. No, it doesn't; it's just a little bit of a nuisance.
Also the same problem after updating to Tahoe 26.1. In my case the drive icons in the sidebar are showing up as Creative Cloud icons. So far, all the fixes I've tried haven't helped. Not happy with the new UI in Tahoe!

Do we assume this quote came from DxO PureRAW...?
I see no reference, no link
is this personal communication with DxO PureRAW you do not say.

Similar discussion on the DxO forum, where the DxO icon has taken over the disk drive icon on the finder sidebar:

It appears to be a bug in Tahoe that affects apps that have Finder Extensions. Try disabling the Finder extension for the app that's showing up incorrectly under System Settings -> Login Items & Extensions
Some discussion here:

But you have to decline the finder extension during the install process.
Did you see that DxO has posted a fix for this?

I found that I had to uninstall -- the method of turning off the extension through system settings and relaunching finder didn't do it. Maybe rebooting would have. -- I didn't test that.
I've been reading this thread. Earlier I saw that the icon problem affected different applications, so I concluded the problem was with the OS. I was wrong about that. It appears that each app causing the problem will need its own fix. There are definitely change in the way Tahoe handles icons. (for example, I had to clear the icon cache -- aliases weren't working right.)
I'll try that and get back to the group, since I have th same issue.

Simply moving that app to the trash and reopening the Finder window seems to fix it temporarily.
Moving the app back to the Applications directory brings the incorrect icon back.
Deleting the app and re-installing it also brings it right back.

Why does the search continue? It seems you have located the problem. Step back & look at what you wrote here. It is clear as day, but you may be too close to the problem to see it.
The third party software is causing this problem. Contact the developer of that app for assistance & to inform them of the issue so they can provide a fix. It is up to third party developers to make sure their apps work with macOS whenever Apple makes any changes to the OS. Unless users report the issue to those third party developers, then those developers may never be aware of a problem.

I've also tried deleting the Finder directory in my home Library/Caches folder and restarting Finder. This also doesn't fix it.

Apparently solved by uninstalling PureRaw and then reinstalling.
@mhtemple - Since upgrading to Tahoe I have the same issue, with the DxO PureRaw icon displaying beside each external disk in Finder

Clearly this is an issue that devides the responsibility between Apple and the App developers, but I would put the onus of that responsibility on Apple for allowing an extension to just take over all the sidebar icons.
