Able to print but unable to scan on Canon Image Class Scanner MF642cdw on my mac mini (OS Tahoe)

I receive the following error message: Cannot communicate with any of the scanners. The scanners may not be connected, or may be turned off. The all in one is connected and it's powered on.

Mac mini, macOS 26.0

Check that the scanner software has permission to your Local Network at  > System Settings > Privacy & Security > Local Network.

I believe it is also an AirPrint compatible printer/scanner, so you should also be able to scan from the Image Capture app in your Application folder, without using any Canon software for scanning.
