Unable to update Apple watch 7 after updating to iOS 18.7

This feedback is for the apple Software development and testing team.

On supported Apple watches, the user shall be able to perform the apple watch OS update from the apple watch itself, irrespective of their iOS version.

Below is the scenario: 

Unable to update apple watch from the watch or from iPhone after updating iOS to 18.7.

Configuration in question:

iPhone XR: iOS: 18.7

Apple watch 7: Apple OS: 11.6.1

Due to security and policy restrictions, I cannot connect my Apple watch to a different iPhone to try the suggested workaround by apple support. Cannot accept this as a permanent solution.

Message on apple watch: Unable to Check for Update. An error occurred while checking for a software update.

Message on iPhone XR: Update iPhone First

To update your Apple Watch, you first need to update your iPhone. You can update your iPhone software in Settings.

Business impact: Without having the latest updates, it is unsafe to use an apple watch which is still in support
