Can’t shrink the clock numbers on my lock screen.

I just updated my iphone12 mini to iOS 26. The clock numbers on my lock screen are now maximized to the largest size. I have adjusted the size multiple times. However, once I get out of the lock screen customization screen, the numbers jump back to the largest size. I’m using the screen option that changes the picture every hour. Why can’t i shrink the size of the clock numbers on my lock screen?
