CarPlay keeps disconnecting and won't reconnect on older F150 with iOS 17.7.2

CarPlay randomly will disconnect and then not allow me to reconnect until the car has sat for 12 or more hours. I am connecting to a third-party radio I added to my older F150. My phone is iOS 17.7.2. I'd rather not update my phone unless there is a compelling reason to do so.

CarPlay has vanished It just quit connecting when I plug my phone into my radio is gone out of my apps and everything. I can’t find it. It doesn’t connect. I do still however, connect through Bluetooth, but the CarPlay app is gone.

CarPlay switching sources automatically So clearly this is an Apple issue going on for years with NO fixes. The most recent question about it was a while ago therefore I am starting it again. I really hope there is a fix… Picture this: I am listen to the radio (local or XM). If my phone is connected to CarPlay and I open up an app (any social media app, news apps and even my camera app, among others), it immediately switches audio sources to my phone away from the radio. I do NOT want this to happen. Anyone know of a fix? This did not happen in my 2018 Nissan. And it did not happen in my 2024 Toyota until about two months after I bought it. and I have also upgraded my phone since it started to an iPhone 15. I have tried going in to shut off Bluetooth to those apps that cause it but there is no option to do that. I have reached out to both Apple and Toyota. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!! Jen

CarPlay not working CarPlay not working. I’ve been using wireless CarPlay in the same vehicle for over 2 years with an iPhone 15. I switched to an iPhone 17 iOS 26.1 and it will not stay connected. I’ve tried many options I’ve discovered online but nothing has resolved the issue.
