AirPods 3 pro mic | iOS 26 camera app cannot change mic input to AirPods

As said, i cannot use AirPods pro 3 as mic when shooting video with iPhone 16 Pro Max iOS 26 Camera App. AirPods work perfectly otherwise, but there is no input options. Picture below Camera app is on background , AirPods connected but no input. Tested with Rode Wireless Go II and input option appears. AirPods are brand new and mic works on calls and with MacBook Pro VoiceOver recording in final cut. What to do, i have tried everything and AirPods pro 3 mic isnt recording video audio.

I got an official statement from Apple: the function is not available in Europe and there's no official timeline about that.

I tried Blackmagic's camera app and voila - I can change the input. I spoke with Apple Support and they couldn't help me nor could they tell me are DK, FI, IT and the entire EU excluded from the eligible regions list.

I'll stick with 3rd party apps and I am going to cancel my iPhone 17 Pro Max order.

This issue is so nonsensical that I am beginning to understand why people prefer other brands now.

Really? Ok, i will get back to you when i have consulted the Geniuses. They just are not satisfied crippling the iPhone just with poor Apple Intelligence support here in Europe, now we have a secret AirPod mic tariff also hahah.

This make no Sense. Even Apple Genius couldn’t solve this. They search this problem and my question was only thing they found out of this topic. So Apple pros reading this forums, please respond is external mic feature region locked? The airpods mic worked fine with my MacBook Pro recording Final Cut Pro VoiceOver and iPhone found Rode Wireless Go 2 mic as an input, but not The AirPods. Everything is updated to The latest firmware.

Hello guys.

Same problem here. AirPors Pro 3, iPhone 13 Pro.

Mic recording with AP works on Final Cut Pro on Mac and on BlackMagic iOS app. But it does not work in official Camera and Final Cut Pro iOS apps.

Apple seriously? The company blocks in EU region two features related to AirPods pro 2 and pro 3 ( most expensive ones):

AirPods pro 2 not working in native Apple apps like Camera app.
AirPods pro 2 Live translation is also not working in EU, so it looks like the company blaming EU customers?

Apple I want my money back for Apple Iphone 16 pro max and AirPods Pro 2.

I got the same problem in Denmark. Are we region locked for no particular reason? Good job on hating Scandinavia, Apple!

Yes, I spent a day trying to understand why I don't have the feature anymore, since I found out the statement from Apple, and than realized that when it worked I was in the US.

I was just in a hour and a half long call with Apple Support.

Audio recording with AP3 is not supported for official Apple apps (Camera and Final Cut Camera) in EU regions for know (Note in Use AirPods with supported camera apps on iPhone or iPad – Apple Support (UK)), the same as for translation feature. But it is working fine with 3rd party apps like BlackMagic.

Anybody tried to use VPN?

One more thing. More calls to Apple Support, the higher on priority list for software update for this thing/feature. So, be my guest. Also confirmed from Apple.
