Samsung M70F monitor and M1 MAacBookPro issues.

Was excited to finally acquire monitor large enough to meet my needs. But, I have an M1 MBP which meets my computing needs, but never dreamed I'd have such difficulty getting all my peripherals to play nice. Before this I had a 27" LG that I could run from an Anker 547 USB hub (7-in-2). New monitor won't work with it nor will it work with my Lention D54. Monitor works fine via HDMI dongle and powering the Mac directly, but USB devices plugged into monitors USB out ports are not recognized. I know the first bit of advice is to contact Samsung and I am back-and-forthing with them. I was just hoping someone in the community might have some insight and suggested approaches to using this monitor and peripherals (ext HD, ScanSnap, DVD burner and web cam) with the MBP. Anyone have any wisdom to share other than ditch the monitor (which I otherwise really like)? Thank you !

It appears that Samsung sells at least two monitors called "M7 M70F".

Samsung – Smart Monitor M7 M70F 4K Samsung Vision AI

One is a 43" UHD 4K monitor with a 60 Hz refresh rate. The other is a 32" version.

It appears that both have two HDMI v2.0 inputs and a USB-C (DP) input.

Since HDMI does not carry USB data, if you connected video via HDMI, and wanted to use the USB hub ports, you would presumably need to hook up a USB uplink cable. Not directly to your 13" M1 MacBook Pro, or to any sort of downstream Thunderbolt port on a Thunderbolt dock. But to a USB port that only supports USB 2/3 – like many of the USB-A and USB-C ports that you find on docks.
