Create Reminder from text *within* Note
I have Notes about projects in different areas. Each Note is for one area, such as "Work", "Home Projects", etc. Each area will have several projects, and each project within a Note has a Header, e.g., "Kitchen remodel", followed by steps, e.g., "Get estimates", "Buy materials".
I want to create reminders for each step and add each Reminder to my Calendar. Ideally, I could enter a date for each step in the Notes app, and then click on that step to create the reminder automatically. That almost, sort of works, but then the issues start:
- If I mouse on the date, a drop down appears - but it offers to create a New Event on the calendar, not a Reminder. I guess I can live with that (an all-day event on the calendar looks kinda like a reminder), but I still have to retype the event text. So the automation is not very automated: I might as well just type Reminders by hand.
- If I don't and the date in the Note, I can just select the text, right click, and select Share, then select Reminder. The I do get a new reminder with the selected text -- but the Reminder title that appears on the calendar is the title of the Note, and the text is in the Reminder details; meanwhile, I need to add the date to the Reminder, which I cannot do at this point but instead must go into the Reminders list and change it there. This is even more work than the previous approach.
- AI tells me that I can create an Automation to create a Reminder from selected text. That would be nice, but now I have to learn how to create Automations and set up keyboard shortcuts, so would be going down another rabbit hole that I don't want to do right now. Oh, and I did look at how to set up keyboard shortcuts for an unrelated Automation that I received, and the Apple Support instructions lead me to a point where the list of Automations is nowhere to be found, so more rabbit hole digging would be involved.
I know that I can create Reminders from individual Notes, but that would mean creating hundreds of Notes, one for each step in multiple projects over the course of months. That's a nonstarter.
There's go to be an easier way! Any suggestions much appreciated.
