moving Xcode to an external drive

I have a MacBook Pro 13-inch, M1, 2020 running Sequoia 15.6.1

I have installed Xcode on my internal hard drive

I have purchased a Samsung T7 Shield external hard drive.

I would like to move my installed Xcode from my internal drive to the external drive.

Is that safe to do or is it better to do a brand new install to the external drive?

Are there any warnings or recommendations AGAINST running Xcode on an external drive?

From everything I have seen Xcode must be installed on the startup disk. You would not be able to boot up from the internal drive and run Xcode on an external drive. You can move projects and Derived Data to the external drive and still run Xcode from the internal startup drive, or use the external drive as the startup disk.
