After updating to the new iOS 26, my contacts are not indexed correctly. I have:
rebooted the phone
disabled contacts from icloud, rebooted and re-enabled contact
disabled icloud, rebooted and re-enabled
It looks like it re-indexes but all contacts are still not searchable. For example if I search by company name it only brings up a couple of contacts and not all. I have checked and the company name is the same in all contacts. What am I missing?

Yes I’m have the issues as you. Basically searching via the call button and then contacts within the next step gets me incomplete information/ results. But if I were to access the Contacts app separately and search for a key word, say a particular country, all the results will show.
this bug with iOS 26 contacts and the search indexing is so annoying. Hope apple helps out on this.

Another thing to try would be to go to Settings > Apps > Search, to turn off the 2 settings there, to reboot your iPhone and to turn those settings back on. Wait a few minutes for the search index to rebuild.
Have you managed to solve the problem and how? I have the same issue contacts search but the funniest thing is that when I open Contacts as an individual icon on my back screen it finds every single contact. But when I enter to search through Call icon and try to search contacts I face the same issue as you. So please help with some advice if you solved the problem
