My MacBook Pro M3 battery is only lasting about 3-4 hours on one charge

My Macbook Pro M3 Max can barely take 3 hours on battery with Safari, Photoshop, Illustrator, Mail, some Notion / Notes and Numbers. It's ridiculous. Used to be much better. Last week when I was working without charger, I was down to 16% from 80, just in 2 hours screen time, not doing any intensive tasks. Battery is on 94% health. Did Etre Check and there were no major issues. Safari has very high 12h battery consumption - about 130-150. Had only some adblock in extensions but in the meantime changed to wipr2 - battery wise nothing changed. Any ideas what could be causing this? Laptop is unusable without charger right now.

It seems you have a lot of crashes regarding Spotlight (11 for spotlightknowledged, and 18 for knowledge-agent). This could indicate a corrupt Spotlight index, or possibly a corrupt file system.

While Safe Mode as suggested by @leroydouglas will perform a file system check, it won't tell you the results. You should definitely try the Safe Mode option because it is a quick way to get important troubleshooting information.

I would suggest also running Disk Utility First Aid on the hidden Container. Within Disk Utility you may need to click "View" and select "Show All Devices" before the hidden Container appears on the left pane of Disk Utility. Even if the First Aid summary says everything is "Ok", click "Show Details" and scroll through the report to see if any unfixed errors are listed. If there are errors, then run First Aid again until the errors are gone. If after several scans the errors remain, then try running First Aid while booted from Recovery Mode. If the still remain, then you will need to perform a clean install of macOS by first erasing the disk followed by reinstalling macOS & restoring from a backup.

You can also try rebuilding the Spotlight Index by using the information in the following Apple article:

Also disconnect all external devices in case they are causing a problem.

unplug all non-essential peripherals when testing

Uninstall all third party apps that are Cleaners/Optimizers/VPN/Anti-Virus

all known to cause issues on the macOS

To trouble shoot further you can:

—A SafeBoot Start up your Mac in safe mode - Apple Support will sort many anomalies

Does a quick disk repair before it fully boots up, and certain system caches get cleared and rebuilt, third party system modifications and system accelerations are disabled temporarily.

Login and test. Reboot as normal and test. Caches get rebuilt automatically.

This test will tell you if third party interference; most extensions etc are not loaded in safe boot mode.

—Test issue in another user (or guest user) account Change Users & Groups settings on Mac - Apple Support

This will tell you if it a universal issue or isolated to your user/admin account.
