Credit Card AutoFill Crashes WebKit Process on Safari 26.0.1

Same for me. When trying to apply the autofill with Credit card information the page is just reloading and so that it loses all the information. Just upgraded to Sonoma 14.8.3 and Safari 26.2 but that didn't help. Firstly I met the issue with Safari 26.1.

Thank you to everyone who has offered fixes. However.....reinstalling our operating systems or using an outdated Safari with security gaps are: Not a fix! Apple needs to fix this problem. Alternatively, we can move everything to Chrome....but then I won't be moving back to Safari.

Allowing updates to Safari post 17.6 will revert back to Webkit crashing. I'm giving up on convenience of Webkit function in lieu of keeping Safari secure. As stated elsewhere, Apple needs to fix this rather than provide bandaid that leaves susceptibility to infection.

Just upgraded to Safari 26.1 (19622.2.11.119.1) and I seem to still have the problem.

Yes, upgraded to Sonoma 14.8.2 (23J126) at the same time.

Ok, I upgraded just safari that didn’t fix it.

Adding insult to injury, 26.1 is also still randomly crashing, so the update didn’t fix a (darn) thing that I needed fixed.

Apple is not going to fix it. There have been 2 releases since it was reported. Upgrade to Tahoe or buy another MAC and stop belly-aching

Did you need to uninstall anything when downgrading to 18.6? This issue is not yet fixed and it looks like it will not be.

My Solution was to buy a Mac Studio. Works great now! #Santa

Tahoe is not supported for non M Chip computers. Mine is prior to the M Chip. Safari was working fine on all of our computers before Apple's upgrade. They need to fix it for everyone, not just those on the latest OS with the latest hardware.

Thanks, but that’s a drastic measure. Many of us aren’t willing to take, especially if Apple requires us to do it after upgrades. Who’s to say that this won’t happen again, perhaps with Apple Mail next week. I say again, come on Apple, fix this stuff.

Of course, because 26.1 was designed to run on Tahoe. They shouldn’t have released it for previous OS versions. It’s Apple being a greedy corporation. They want to force everyone to upgrade their macs.

This is wrong. My 2020 mac is supported. As with every new release, some older macs won’t work. Its Apple’s systematic way of making people abandon perfectly good system

Safari has to go. Time to move on to Chrome so we get have a working browser with Sonoma or Sequoia or Tahoe with our Intel macs. Safari is really the only thing that become antiquated. I have a 10 core Intel i9 and there’s really no reason for me to dump this so I can use Safari. Some web sites don’t support Safari as it is.

This problem sucks and I hope Apple fixes it soon. Using Safari 26.2 in Sonoma. To use credit card autofill I have to instead use Brave browser since Safari's credit card autofill is broken and doesn't work.
