iPhone 17 Pro Max Over heating

Hi,

Anyone experiencing their phones overheating?

I got my IPhone 17 Pro max last Thursday, 25/09/2025. Since then I have experienced my phone overheating twice now. I got my Background Refresh App off, by the way.

First instance:

I was just watching reels in instagram when I felt my phone is getting warmer. I have checked the my recent apps, there's a couple which I closed including instagram. Then that's the time my phone started to cool down.

Second instance:

I was watching videos in chrome when again I felt the phone is starting to get warm. Same thing what I did in the first instance closed every app in the recent app list including chrome. This time I have noticed the screen is warmer than the back of the phone.

My phone was in IOS 26 when the first instance happened and IOS 26.0.1 for the second.

Did a warning or notification appear onscreen stating your iphone was overheating? If not, it sounds normal. Many videos are playing in 4K and HDR and require rapid download a processing to maintain the high data rate for 60 FPS and HDR. HDR will increase screen brightness to very high levels and heat is a byproduct of the screen brightness, extensive use of CPU and GPU cores and possibly AI for noise reduction and enhanced detail.

Aluminum is much more efffecant than stainless steel and titanium in conducting heat away from critical components such as the SOC, battery, modems, memory etc. This sounds normal and my 17 PM does the same when watching videos on YouTube.
