As already suggested by Lawrence Finch, a routine restart is generally not required for your iPad.

That said, a simple periodic shut-down and restart can be beneficial in clearing cached system and stale website data - both of which can reduce system performance. This can be particularly helpful in the early days of a new major version of iOS/iPadOS, such as iPadOS 26, where early system bugs and issues are still being resolved. As the OS matures and becomes more stable, periodic restart may become less beneficial.

Speaking for myself, a heavy user of iPad as my primary computer frequently encountering unresolved bugs, I have found it necessary to restart the iPad every couple of days. However, assuming that iPadOS 26 follows a similar pattern to release of iPadOS 18, the most significant of bugs will be ironed-out by the time that iPadOS 26.1 or 26.2 are released; at the time of writing, iPadOS 26.0.1 is current.
