I have snap to grid off, widgets off, and stage manager off. Restarted several times.
When I move an icon on the desktop in the area where stage manager appears (left side top) it moves it back or moves it to the side or bottom of where the stage manager widgets appear. It acts like the widgets are still open on the desktop.

Even if Widgets aren’t set to show on Desktop, they are still ‘on’. Delete the widgets (secondary click on the desktop, click Edit Widgets, click the (X) on them), and you can then reclaim that space.

This is a terrible design. So either I have widgets and less desktop or no widgets and all my desktop? This is a bug or just bad? If I can't see widgets on the desktop it would seem the space would be usable? It is on the right side of the screen. Thanks for your post.
