The issue was on my MacBook Pro, not the iPhone.
I was on chat and phone with Comcast yesterday from 9:30am-5:30pm yesterday. After a few prompts and at least a dozen mostly useless Live Chat interactions and two inept phone agents, I finally was connected on the phone to the person who should've helped in the first place. Not only helpful, but I gained insight about what is happening with Comcast relinquishing itself as an email server. Users will need to "migrate" their account to Yahoo for a clean transition.
Comcast is not all together compatible with Apple. Wish I had known!
My instinct was to call apple first because as experienced over the years, Comcast fails as a communication company. The apple tech was not very effective trouble shooting. She wanted to book me with a genius bar but the earliest appt. would be 3 days and 25 miles.
SOURCE: Google - How to Migrate Email from Comcast to Yahoo on Apple devices
To migrate Comcast email to Yahoo on an Apple device, accept the migration prompt when it appears, then sign in to your Comcast account on Yahoo's website to initiate the process. Prepare by downloading any emails with attachments over 25MB, as they won't be automatically transferred. After accepting the Terms of Service, your Comcast emails and contacts will be accessible through your Yahoo Mail.
Before Migration
- Download Large Attachments: Check for emails with attachments larger than 25MB, as these will not migrate automatically. You'll need to download or delete them before the migration process begins.
- Be Aware of Limits: The migration tool has limits on folders and contacts. A maximum of 4,100 folders and 10,000 contacts can be moved; any beyond these limits will be consolidated or lost.
During Migration
- Look for a Notification: You will likely receive an email at your Comcast.netaddress to inform you about the upcoming migration to Yahoo Mail.
- Sign in and Accept: Sign in to your Comcast account on the provided Yahoo link. You will be prompted to accept the Yahoo Terms of Service and Privacy Policy to start the migration.
- Access via Yahoo Mail: Once the migration is complete, all your emails and contacts will be available within your new Yahoo Mail account, which you can then access on your Apple device using the Yahoo Mail app or the Mail app.
After Migration
- Access on your Apple Device: You can continue to use your @comcast.net email address with Yahoo Mail, accessing it on your iPhone or iPad through the Yahoo Mail app or the Apple Mail app.
- Configure Third-Party Clients: If you access your email using a third-party email client (like the Apple Mail app), you will need to update the settings to reflect the new Yahoo Mail account configuration.
