Unable to add Comcast email account on iPhone after password change

I changed the Comcast password on the Xfinity website because the STMP would not sent emails out. There were conflicting passwords that I could not read. It would not accept the new password, so I removed Comcast from the accounts. When I attempt to ADD A MAIL ACCOUNT, it is UNABLE TO VERIFY ACCOUNT NAME OR PASSWORD.

I called Apple. The tech couldn't help, offering an appt. at the Genius Bar 25 miles away on Sunday. I have emails to send (and receive).

The issue was on my MacBook Pro, not the iPhone.

I was on chat and phone with Comcast yesterday from 9:30am-5:30pm yesterday. After a few prompts and at least a dozen mostly useless Live Chat interactions and two inept phone agents, I finally was connected on the phone to the person who should've helped in the first place. Not only helpful, but I gained insight about what is happening with Comcast relinquishing itself as an email server. Users will need to "migrate" their account to Yahoo for a clean transition.

Comcast is not all together compatible with Apple. Wish I had known!

My instinct was to call apple first because as experienced over the years, Comcast fails as a communication company. The apple tech was not very effective trouble shooting. She wanted to book me with a genius bar but the earliest appt. would be 3 days and 25 miles.

  3. Access via Yahoo Mail: Once the migration is complete, all your emails and contacts will be available within your new Yahoo Mail account, which you can then access on your Apple device using the Yahoo Mail app or the Mail app. 

After Migration 

  • Access on your Apple Device: You can continue to use your @comcast.net email address with Yahoo Mail, accessing it on your iPhone or iPad through the Yahoo Mail app or the Apple Mail app.
  • Configure Third-Party Clients: If you access your email using a third-party email client (like the Apple Mail app), you will need to update the settings to reflect the new Yahoo Mail account configuration.

What did Comcast support say when you contacted them?

Some other Xfinity user have said to log onto your account on a web browser - settings - security - and look through there. Maybe enable third party apps.

Third Party Access Security on xFinity is checked.

I went to the Apple Store Genius Bar appt. yesterday. The tech agent fixed the issue on my Mac. Not sure what she did after all the grief I went through. This Comcast email issue is apparently unfamiliar at this point. She advised that I not "migrate" email from Comcast to Yahoo until I get an official notice based on info I provided on a printout from the internet. I


I'm still having issues sending emails.

Account Comcast (offline)

Unable to verify account name or password.

Not checked: Automatically manage connection settings

The port is 465. The box is not checked Use TSL/SSL
