Update from Sonoma 14 to Sequoia 15
I've got a 2020 Macbook air that is still running on Sonoma 14 OS and I want to update it to Sequoia instead of Tahoe. How do I proceed?

+ 1 Owl-53 is spot on.
Take the offered Sonoma 14.8.1 shown in the "Also available" section.
Then from Sonoma 14.8.1 the "Also available" should offer up the Sequoia 15 Upgrade.
If not, go to > How to download and install macOS - Apple Support and get Sequoia from the App Store.

The work you have done deserves a " Shout Out "
Or, at least an acknowledge for the time and efforts you have put in, to steer OP in the right direction
🦉-53
Run this Terminal command
softwareupdate --list-full-installers
Then press the Return key
Does the Sequoia appear ?
In the bottom of your Screen Shot
Look at the " macOS Sonoma 14.8.1 and 1 more... "
Expand it
➡️ Below was presented when this machine was running Sequoia 15.7 and a 15.7.1 was also available ⬅️

Thank you. Shout out maybe, Top-ranking no...
Actually I thought you should have gotten the Top-ranking reply for your effort.
Nonetheless , I am still of the belief.
We have put OP, at least in the right direct regardless of what the AI has to say
Slightly off Topic on an observation
Looking at @ tt2 unofficial Apple Support Communities Leaderboard
Doing a little math
See about 10% of all the listed individuals, 582 to be exact, are actually doing the " Heavy Lifting ".
Thank you. Shout out maybe, Top-ranking no...

I don't get Sequoia under "Also available" even after updating to the latest Sonoma.
Will try Sequoia from the App store.
