iPhone 8 in recovery mode required for iTunes connection due to forgotten pin

Hi All, just wanted to share my experience. I needed to factory reset iphone 8 and I was having trouble getting it recognized with itunes. Its a painful experience for those familiar.

The reason seemingly was that because I forgot the pin it needs to be in recovery mode before itunes will recognize it. When the phone enters recovery mode, itunes will detect it and will offer to restore it. No amount of connecting, reconnecting, different cables or itunes reinstalling will make a difference prior to this.

You will never get the iphone icon in itunes until the phone is in recovery mode.

I wish someone mentioned this as a normal part of the process when you cant unlock the phone!

I believe it is because the phone is locked and because I didnt have the pin (the reason for needing reset) I couldnt click "Trust this Device" when it popped up. It doesnt need that in recovery mode.

PS. I did finally get it to work with iTunes64Setup.exe rather than windows store version.
