iPhone 16 Pro Camera Question

This is my first Pro iPhone and I may be in over my head. I upgraded from an XR. I routinely share photos on Instagram. Now, however, with the Pro my file sizes must be too large for Instagram to accept in the manner I am accustomed to. I click on my photo, click the share button and select share to Instagram. It accepts the photo, BUT something very unusual happens next. A duplicate, but much smaller file size, photo ends up in my Photo Library. Now I have two images of the same photo. Why am I getting a second image? Is Instagram doing this, or my 16 PRO? This has never happened until I got this new iPhone. There are a lot of settings and I’ve watched several YouTube videos trying to understand the settings. But, I cannot figure out what is going on here. Can anyone tell me, simply?

Have you talked to the Instagram support team about the issue? Instagram developers have released 3 updates in the last week. The last update was just 2 days ago.

Some users have reported they needed to delete the old app before the new app resolved their specific issue. It’s worth a try. Please make sure to backup your iPhone first to avoid any loss of personal data.

Ever since getting the 16PRO it has been sketchy uploading directly to Instagram. Sometimes it works, sometimes not. But, I can always get an upload if I go to Instagram and hit the plus button. So, getting the upload, though sometimes convoluted, is not the main curiosity. What has me wondering is that after the Instagram upload I end up with two copies of the photo on my phone! One is the original and the second is a copy, but a much smaller file size. Again, I have been uploading a picture to Instagram daily for several years and this phenomena didn't start until I got the 16PRO.

I too have the same issue, there are times when I try to upload on instagram and it will not let me click on it but some do as well. I’m also trying to figure out why but when I go to edit it, then it fixes the issue and then I’m able to upload the photo, my guess is just the camera settings. I’m trying to look up solutions and switch some of the photo settings and maybe that would work

UPDATE: As of this past week, suddenly the mysterious issue of duplicate photos after an Instagram upload is over! I have done nothing different, but am now NOT getting a second photo in my camera roll after uploading to Instagram. I do update Instagram every time one is available. Perhaps they did something. I will likely never know.
