Allow external device to connect

I have a MBP M4 running Sequoia. There are two users on the machine, myself and my wife both set up as administrators. Both accounts were migrated across from previous MBP.

Under security settings the OS is set to ask permission when new external devices are plugged into a usbc port. Works fine on my account.

When my wife is using the MBP and plugs in, say, a new thumb drive then the security prompt flashes up and disappears so quickly it can’t be acknowledged and the device doesn’t connect. Only way to get it to connect is to log on as my user, give permission for the device to connect, log out and log back on as my wife.

For various reasons we would like to keep a prompt when connecting a new device.

any suggestions so it works properly when my wife is logged on.

MacBook Pro 14″, macOS 15.6
